I credit GearedTowardGear for being among the first to ironically take a stab at making the Air Monarch IV's cool.

Keep putting out good content man. I wish a lot more youtubers more thoughtful in getting good conversations started on why we like what we like. I'm just glad I'm not seeing another I'm selling my entire collection video.

I like them both minimal and chunky. Each one serves a different purpose. The counterculture is understandable. Kind of like how dad hats emerged after fitteds and SnapBacks got played out. Same thing here.

Been noticing this too! Honestly, I can't do the whole bulky shoe thing cause my legs are toothpicks so it looks a lil weird.
Bulkiest shoes I own and wear are my CNY 12s.

My nightmare from some years back is coming true.. I want futuristic stuff like the yeezys and ultraboosts not this 80s trend with Russian communist clothing and shoes.. everything I hate is becoming trendy now. What the hell happened?

  • Cole Archer
    Posted at 14:17h, 20 April

The whole point of being into sporty and "snearkerhead" shoes as much as I hate that term is to have shoes cooler looking than these

I'am a tall and slim guy. This type of shoe usually don't suit me.

Yo, Blake… Nike missed it's chance to capitalize on the Air Monarch. So many people wanted to do fun things with that model and Nike is like…. NOPE. I can imagine a highly sought after Air Monarch with premium or interesting materials.

White Air Force 1's will always be in my rotation!

  • Thomas Goodall
    Posted at 14:17h, 20 April

The bulkiest shoes I have in my rotation are the New Balance 530s and Jordan 4s. Being a really slim guy I just can't get away with bulky shoes so I think it will be really dependent on people body type and personal style

Chunky sneakers have been the wave for anyone who isn't a Jerry Boy or a Hypebeast. Rafs, Balenciaga (Ye copied Demna's shoe from FW17) been had these types of shoes. Really hope this doesn't become the new trend, though. Keeping things lowkey is crucial.

the furthest I'll go w runners is my sauconys and asics? those considered dad shoes ?

  • Yuri Santoro
    Posted at 14:17h, 20 April

It's just a hype beast trend just because everything "retro" is in rn like tommy, náutica, guess, overalls… it's hideous imo

  • Linus Poon
    Posted at 14:17h, 20 April

The Ozweego's shape is less round and less jumbled up, while monarchs are really, "Mushy", let's say. Ozeegos are bulkier on the upper rather than the sole. As for the yeezy runners….. I like to think of them as huaraches dipped in candle wax. not a good look imo but i can see how people like them.

  • Davar Ansari
    Posted at 14:17h, 20 April

u can take them grandpa shoes and dad hats to the garbage …. i always wonder what im missing when everyone goes nuts over those oswego joints and they keep selling out. i have no clue

  • Hengel Andrews
    Posted at 14:17h, 20 April

Tyler no! You compared an Raf aswego to air monarchs, how dare you? What reach man… you didn't talk this way about the green pair, nor you didn't use the curry 2 lows as a comparison, why because it proved this video made no sense? Dude just post the shoe review and go. This fake argument damaged your credibility.

I really appreciate this bulky trend. There's a lot of variety of gamps shoes now and it's something fresh to appreciate. You know I love Adidas so much, but even the nmd is becoming an overplayed silhouette in my opinion. Wish I could have copped the Ozweegos for retail, but I got super lucky on the powerphase <3 Thanks T. <3

My girlfriend's sister called my Air Max 90 Infrared's (a shoe i wear almost every other day) "grandpa shoes," so I'm happy that they're becoming trendy again
